My parents were great givers of their time. ⏰

Time turned out to an incredibly valuable and precious commodity for both of them, but they always gave it freely to anyone in need of a friendly word or their company. 🥰

Today, while running errands, I made a point to visit with our town’s resident 99-year-old D-Day vet: Burt.

There is a bench dedicated to him outside of our post office and he sits there daily (weather permitting) around noon.

Today, l learned that Bert and I share a wonderful hobby. Bert loves plants - as much as I do. We talked about our favorites, shared tips and I showed him pictures of some plants I recently repotted. 🪴

I also told him about my dad and I predicted that they would have been fast friends if he had ever had a chance to visit North Bend.

Today healed my grieving heart. ❤️‍🩹

(Photo taken and shared with Bert’s permission. He said “I sure look happy in that picture, I AM living my best life right now!”) ❤️
